About Michelle Choairy

Michelle Choairy is a speaker, advocate, and the founder of Collective Wisdom for Complex Kids and the THRIVE Program. She helps parents navigate IEPs, medical systems, and the challenges of raising complex kids with clarity and confidence.

Michelle’s journey began with her son, Drake. After his premature birth, she spent years searching for answers. Doctors offered labels, theories, and acronyms, but none of them fully explained what he was experiencing. Even though support existed, the solutions never felt complete. Michelle trusted her intuition and kept pushing forward.

That commitment led to the discovery of Drake’s rare TBR1 de novo genetic variant. The diagnosis finally connected the dots and helped Michelle understand the full picture of his needs. However, it also opened the door to something bigger. She realized that many families were facing the same confusion and overwhelm that she once felt.

Today, Michelle uses her experience to guide parents through the complicated world of special education and childhood development. She believes complex kids are not “challenging” or “difficult.” They simply learn and communicate in unique ways. When parents understand those differences, everything changes.

Through her programs, workshops, and advocacy work, Michelle teaches families how to build strong teams, ask the right questions, and create meaningful support at school and at home. She brings warmth, knowledge, and deep compassion to every parent she works with. Her mission is simple: help families feel seen, supported, and empowered.
