About the Podcast

What is Change Happened, Then What? about?

Change Happened, Then What? is a narrative documentary podcast about the moments that divide life into before and after, and what people do with the life that follows. Each main episode combines a guest’s own voice with narration and thoughtful production to explore grief, trauma, diagnosis, identity, resilience, healing, humor, and hope.

Is this an interview podcast?

Not in the traditional sense. Conversations with guests become the foundation for carefully crafted documentary stories. The goal is not a rapid question-and-answer exchange. It is to create an emotionally grounded story that gives context to what happened, what came next, and what still remains.

What are Smile Drops?

Smile Drops are short companion episodes between the longer documentary stories. Heather uses them to reflect on an idea, memory, question, or everyday moment connected to the themes of the show. Some are serious, some are lighter, and all are meant to offer a small place to pause.

Who is Heather Holt?

Heather Holt is the creator and host of Change Happened, Then What?, an audio engineer, and the owner of Holt Hill Studios in central Vermont. Her storytelling is shaped by professional audio experience and by her own life after loss, brain-tumor surgery, hearing loss, family change, and reinvention.

Listening and New Episodes

Where can I listen?

You can listen on Apple Podcasts, Spotify, iHeartRadio, YouTube, and most major podcast platforms.

How often are new episodes released?

New stories are released during active seasons, with Smile Drops appearing between many of the main documentary episodes. Follow the show in your preferred podcast app so new releases arrive automatically.

Do episodes include content warnings?

Yes. When an episode includes sensitive subjects such as suicide, abuse, addiction, trauma, or violence, a content note is included so listeners can decide when and how they want to listen. Please take care of yourself first.

Where can I learn more about a guest?

Episode descriptions include available guest links and resources. You can also visit the guest pages to learn more about the people whose stories have been featured.

Guests and Story Submissions

What kind of guests is Heather looking for?

The podcast looks for people with lived experience of meaningful change who are willing to reflect honestly on what came before, what happened, and how life continued afterward. A story does not need a perfect ending. It does need emotional truth, reflection, and a reason it may help someone else feel less alone.

Is the podcast a place to promote a business, service, or book?

The story always comes first. A guest may have a book, project, organization, or professional resource connected to their experience, but the episode is not designed as a promotional interview or sales opportunity.

How do I submit a story or apply to be a guest?

Start with the guest inquiry page. Share enough information for Heather to understand the heart of your story and why you feel ready to tell it.

What happens after I submit a guest inquiry?

Heather reviews each submission for fit, timing, emotional readiness, and how the story may serve listeners. If the story appears to be a good fit, the next step is usually a pre-interview conversation before any full recording is scheduled.

Can a guest establish boundaries around parts of their story?

Yes. Emotional safety matters. Guests can identify details or subjects that are private or off-limits. Those boundaries are discussed before production so the final story can be honest without asking someone to surrender more than they intended to share.
