Season Four: Becoming the Light — Change Happened, Then What?, showing Heather with two black dogs overlooking a mountain sunrise.

About Change Happened, Then What?

Real stories about life after change.

Change Happened, Then What? is a narrative documentary podcast hosted by Heather Holt in Vermont. Through guest voices, scripted narration, music, and sound, each episode follows a life-changing experience and asks what happens afterward.

The stories explore identity, grief, resilience, healing, and becoming. Between the documentary episodes, Smile Drops offer reflection, humor, and a reason to smile, with a little help from Waylon and Dalton.

Meet Heather

Heather Holt, host and creator of Change Happened, Then What?

I’m Heather Holt, the host, creator, and editor behind Change Happened, Then What? I’m a trained audio engineer with a Full Sail education, and I bring that background to the way each story is shaped and heard.

My own experiences with loss and major life changes are part of what brought me to this work. I’m interested in the lives people build after a turning point, including the questions, relationships, and everyday moments that help them keep going.

Our sweet, calm little brother is usually ready with another question. He is also in charge of making sure nobody sleeps in, especially on weekends.

The Inspiration Behind the Podcast

Michael Paine, Heather’s brother and an inspiration behind the podcast

Michael Paine

My brother, Michael Paine, is an inspiration behind Change Happened, Then What? Losing him changed my life and is part of why stories about loss, connection, and what comes afterward matter to me.

His place in this podcast is personal. I keep his photograph here to acknowledge the brother whose life remains part of my own story.
